Practical courses in shallow water and open water
Type of course: beginner, advanced and coaching
Duration: 3 hours
Formula: Course and à la carte lessons (Prices)
Depending on your level and your wishes, your instructor will define a personalised learning objective. The lesson is then set up through :
- A briefing on the basic techniques to be applied
- Demonstrations by your instructor
- exercises to be carried out
- Advice, instructions and corrections communicated in real time by radio
- Fun and smiles ????
These practical courses can take place in both shallow and open water :
- Shallow water lessons take place along the beach, the spot is then chosen to bring together the best learning conditions. From an educational point of view, shallow water has the following advantages:
- More reassuring for a first contact with the activity
- First waterstarts are easier when you’re on foot
- Close contact with the instructor
- Open water lessons take place from a boat. The advantages are :
- More time devoted to gliding, as the student doesn’t have to walk
- No interference from other kitesurfers or obstacles
- Lessons can continue when the wind is from the land (wind off)
Kite piloting course
Type of course : beginner
Duration: 3 hours
Formula : Course and Cours à la carte (Prices)
These lessons take place on land, i.e. on the beach, without going in the water. They focus specifically on kite flying. All without the anxiety of a first lesson in the water. AvelWest is equipped with Peak Flysurfer kites specially adapted for land use. They are highly intuitive and optimised for this type of learning.
The objectives of the course are :
- Preparing a wing and using the safety systems
- Take-off and basic piloting
- Static power management
- Simulating a waterstart
- Dynamic power management
As the basis of progress in kitesurfing is the ability to pilot a kite, the pedagogical contribution of this type of course is very significant. It allows the student to progress more quickly afterwards.
Finally, the first glides on the sand and on a Mountain Board offer the first sensations of gliding. The ‘wow’ effect is guaranteed ????

Towing course (boat)
Type of course: All levels twintip or beginner foil
Duration: 3h – 3h30 (4h if picnic)
Formula: Tailor-made courses (Prices)
These lessons are designed for all kitesurfers (beginners and advanced) who want to develop their skills on the water. It’s also aimed at people who want to learn kitefoil and wingfoil.
The technique is inspired by wakeboarding: you glide over the water towed by a boat. Your support is a kiteboard or foil. Not having to worry about a kite makes it much easier to master the glide. You’ll be able to familiarise yourself with the fundamental stages of your progression: the waterstart, balancing on a board or foil, the right position to stabilise your glide and ride upwind. All of this in a very fun atmosphere, with thrills and good humour all round…
AvelWest is equipped with a specially adapted boat: a 3D Tender semi-rigid, an aluminium hull for greater stability, a 60hp engine, a tow mast, etc. Boarding takes place at the pontoon of the Centre Voile de Landéda in the port of Aber Wrac’h. Lessons take place in the sheltered area of Aber Wrac’h, one of Brittany’s most beautiful marine sites.
Bonus:
- At the end of the course, all students can try their hand at foil sliding
- Discover the marine heritage of Aber Wrac’h and the colony of seals living there
- If the weather and tide conditions are suitable, you can finish the course with a picnic on the island of Stagadon, the ‘jewel’ of the Lilia archipelago
- Similarly, if the number of students allows, you can invite one of your friends or family members to join us for a picnic on Stagadon at the end of the course and watch your exploits ????
